Little Hands of Hope exists to glorify God by improving the lives of Salvadorans through preaching the gospel in word and deed, and by helping to encourage the development of their talents and abilities, specifically focusing on the children in El Salvador in order to help raise up a new generation of accomplished adults who trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
El Salvador is a very beautiful but very poor country, and crime is a huge problem. Many children are abused, and some are abandoned because their families lack the resources to care for them. A lot of children grow up without completing high school and without learning the proper skills to live on their own resources. These circumstances many times result in a lack of purpose for Salvadorans, and many turn to crime either as a last resort or to occupy their time. Our goal is to help to change El Salvador, showing the people they have hope in Jesus Christ and helping them to develop the talents God has given them so that they may use them to glorify His name as children and as adults.
We operate a children's center where kids can have a safe haven to enjoy being children while learning about the gospel and developing their gifts and abilities. The center operates in Meanguera, Morazán. We teach Biblical principles and English, while loving the children and encouraging them in their daily endeavors. The knowledge of English can help the children in the future by opening up more job opportunities for them than if they did not have knowledge of English. By sharing Jesus' love and teaching the children Biblical principles, we desire to bring hope to children in difficult stiuations and help them to grow into upright citizens who have a love the Lord and their neighbors. The children are provided with a warm meal and special medical attention as needed.
Our vision is to rescue children from situations where they have little hope and bring them to a place where they are taught and shown Jesus’ love, where they can learn to love their neighbors as themselves, and where they are provided with the tools and support to be able to have successful lives as adults. We want to help raise a generation that loves and serves Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
As we work with the children, we strive to help their families support them. A lot of children are growing up in a single-parent home or sometimes with their grandmother or aunt or uncle. It is very hard for these families to make ends meet, and a lot of mothers spend a lot of time away from their children trying to provide for them. Our goal is to support the families, showing them that we care for their children and want to help them care for them as well. We keep our eyes out for special needs among the families and try to help where we do not interfere with family responsibilities and daily life, but where we can encourage parents to love and care for the children in the best way possible. Sometimes this support means providing a meal, a pair of shoes, a school uniform, food, or even sometimes a sympathetic ear and advice when it is solicited.
"Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?" And the King will answer them, "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to Me."
